New Holiday

I happen to be a person that LOVES Christmas, the whole season really. I love the lights, the goodies, the songs, the joy, and most of all...the anticipation. It build. Bigger, bigger, and bigger. Christmas comes, and we play all week in anticipation of New Years Eve. It's exciting, it's fun, and then BAM...it's over!

When it all ends I always feel this sadness in my heart, because I don't have anything to look forward to until Valentines Day. This year I decided we need a new Holiday, one that comes near the end of January. So, I decided to make it a little game. Wanna play?

Here is what you do... leave your best new holiday ideas, how your holiday is celebrated, decorated, etc. The sky is the limit, and I even have a wonderful prize for the person that comes up with my favorite idea. The winner will get my Mothers brand new Cook Book, just published last week, you can't even buy it in stores yet.

Have fun, and get those wheels turning.

What I love about January is that it is quiet with not a lot going on- a time to slow down and relax after the hustle and bustle of the holidays. But I guess that's also what I hate about January. These are some things that we do to help us get through the bleak month, but at the same time, not get as busy as we were at Christmas!
*We host a game night for family or friends. Everyone brings their favorite snack- little smokies, chips and dip, brownies, etc- and we play a variety of games.
*Greg has two brothers home from missions. We have one night where every missionary- including Greg and his dad- make a dish from their mission
*We sometimes try to take a weekend trip to somewhere warmer- like St. George or Moab. But if we can't do that, we have a bbq, set off some fireworks, and go swimming at an indoor pool. Something to help us forget all the snow!
